Bereavement Support

"Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief. But I trust in you, Lord; I say "You are my God." -Psalm 31;10, 15

Oh Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me; Let me know your will for me and give me all I need to carry it out this day.

If you are a parish family member and have experienced the death of a loved one, please reach out to Monica Robinson, Care Ministry Pastoral Associate. Saint Francis and Clare of Assisi's Care Ministry can offer a variety of supports to assist you through this difficult time.

These supports can include:

The posting of the name of your loved one in our bulletin.
An embroidered heart with the name of your loved one will be placed on our Remembrance Quilt which hangs in our Narthex.
Scheduled Mass intentions for your loved one.
Cards, calls and/or meetings for support during your first year of loss.

Our Bereavement Support Group meets twice monthly for an 8 week period. This group is a self-help group that offers a confidential gathering place for those grieving the death of a loved one. Together we share stories and seek the healing presence of Christ. You can find out more information on this group and when they meet in our church bulletin.

Our Commemoration of All Departed Souls Mass is held on November 2nd each year. At this Mass we remember those souls who have passed offering a special candle for your loved one. We also offer a blessing of the Resurrection Garden and remember the souls resting there.

Hope for the Holidays is information shared with those who have lost a loved one in the past year. Information includes the realities of grief during the holidays and strategies that may help during this season.
